In the classic Canalicchio area, among the most vocated in the appellation, the cool microclimate favors an optimal, slow and gradual ripening, developing noble and elegant aromas in the wine. 10 hectares of Sangiovese Grosso facing northeast with an altitude around 300 meters above sea level rest at the foot of the Montalcino hill. Rosildo Pacenti bought the Canalicchio estate in 1962 and was among the first to believe strongly in Montalcino’s potential and to enhance the value of Sangiovese, a grape variety that can achieve excellence on this hill. The estate’s first bottle of Brunello di Montalcino was produced in the 1966 vintage.

Franco Pacenti estate, established in Montalcino in 1966, is situated on the northeastern slope of the Canalicchio area, a classic and historic region recognised as one of the most celebrated in the appellation. Founded in the 1960s by Rosildo Pacenti, the family-run business is currently led by Franco Pacenti and his children, Lisa, Serena, and Lorenzo, representing the third generation. Spanning a total area of 36 hectares, which includes 10 ha of vineyards, the estate exclusively cultivates Sangiovese to produce Rosso and Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, as well as Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Riserva. Their wines achieve a harmonious balance of elegance and strength, blending traditional expertise with modern technology to capture the spirit of the land and its caretakers. The estate also produces Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Grappa di Brunello and invites visitors to explore the 14th-century Church of Madonna degli Angeli.
