Contucci predates the construction of the Contucci Palace in Montepulciano, built in the 16th century by Antonio da Sangallo the Elder and decorated internally by Andrea Pozzo. The cellars, dating to the 13th century, were once part of Montepulciano’s defensive walls. The estate spans 170 hectares, of which 21 are vineyards—15 are dedicated to Nobile di Montepulciano production, while the rest yield Rosso di Montepulciano, Bianco della Contessa, Il Sansovino, and Vin Santo. Situated in prime production zones at altitudes of 280–450 meters, the vineyards benefit from Pliocene-origin soils containing clay and sand. The vines include native varieties such as Prugnolo Gentile, Canaiolo Nero, Mammolo, Colorino, Trebbiano Toscano, Malvasia del Chianti, and Grechetto.
