Podere Pereto, founded by Franco Bordoni in 1991, is located in Serre di Rapolano within an ancient farmhouse dating back to the 1500s, surrounded by the gentle hills of the Crete Senesi. From its inception, the farm has focused on cultivating local and ancient varieties while deliberately excluding fertilisers, chemical pesticides, and synthetic products in compliance with European organic farming regulations established in 1991. In 1994, Podere Pereto began collaborating with the Custodian Farmers Association to promote the recovery of ancient seed varieties native to Tuscany. Initially, the farm covered an area of approximately 20 hectares; today, it has expanded to around 600 hectares and serves as a benchmark for other local enterprises.
